The Kentucky Drycleaners Association
The Kentucky Drycleaners Association is the association of professional dry cleaners and launderers in the Commonwealth.
KDA is a joint state affiliate
of the DLI (Drycleaning and Laudry Institute International). KDA keeps an experienced
lobbyist team in place at the state Capitol. They are on watch
for new laws that could be damaging to dry cleaners. During
the 1998 General Assembly, they successfully killed a bill that would
have prohibited charging for extra services required in detailing women’s
blouses. Previously, KDA passed the Unclaimed Garment Law that
removes the liability from drycleaners for garments that are abandoned. KDA
is an information clearinghouse for learning where to go in state government
to answer questions on OSHA, environmental regulations, etc.
KDA has offered a wide variety of educational seminars including: Counter Sales, Advanced Spotting, Advanced Pressing, Basic Maintenance, and others. These courses are designed for line employees, to encourage professionalism and improve quality and productivity. In addition KDA has offered seminars designed form management that include: Financial Analysis, Estate Planning, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure, and many other topics to ensure you have the tools you need to manage your business effectively.
